We have launched our new risk management product, FOCUS, a new service from leading housing insurance broker FARR designed to stress test a housing association’s risk management procedures.
FOCUS on… is a 3 stage service that:
• Identifies risks by engaging directly with different operational departments
• Benchmarks procedures and documents to ensure best practice
• Undertakes site surveys to assess the extent to which procedures are followed in practice
The process is backed up by a programme of training seminars that follow up on the results of the site surveys. These seminars ensure that procedures are understood and followed in practice.

Hosepipe bans to flash floods in a matter of weeks!

In most areas of the South East of England we are in desperate need of rain with penalties enforced for using hosepipes since April 5th, after one of the driest two-year periods on record, yet with April showers inevitable for the next few weeks the prospect of rain is now perceived to be more of a danger than a blessing.
According to the Environment Agency ‘dry, compacted soils’ absorb water less easily and with future storms on the horizon it looks as though flash flooding will occur. 
Presently the majority of the east of the country, from the Humber to Kent, is in drought. The Telegraph advises that four months of sustained rainfall will be required to refill reservoirs and rivers; which are now lower than they were in 1976!
National Housing Federation's Housing & Finance Exhibition – 21st and 22nd March 2012
We have been busy at FARR in preparation for the NHF’s Housing & Finance Exhibition this Wednesday and Thursday, held at the Warwick University in Coventry.
Now in its 30th year, the conference unites Housing association professionals including: Finance directors, managers and staff, Chief executives, Board members interested in the financial workings of their association, Chairs of housing association boards, Lenders, commercial organisations and public service providers, and anyone with an interest in the financial running of their organisation.
We will be manning our own stand number 79 and have a few things up our sleeves to keep our visitors entertained! FARR Storm Losses
The weather has taken a turn for the worse with numerous reports of high winds and storm conditions. These are likely to have caused damage to many properties across the country and the forecasters are predicting more spells of bad weather to come.
It is therefore very important that we are aware of all storm claims as soon as possible so that a loss adjuster can be immediately appointed to liaise with your dedicated contact and validate your claim for you.
Most property stock policies through FARR enjoy the Single Event Clause which means that only one excess may apply to one storm event during a 72 hour period. Please check your policy wording for full terms and conditions applicable.
FARR exhibit at CHC Resources Conference
FARR recently participated in the CHC Resources Conference held at the Metropole Hotel, Llandrindod Wells.
As always the opportunity to exhibit at such conferences is invaluable to FARR, allowing us the chance to network with new and existing clients, as well as promoting our products & services.
2011 again proved to be another successful conference for FARR and we would like to take this opportunity to thank CHC for their organisation of the event.

NHF Finance Conference & Exhibition, Warwick
The conference season has started with a bang as FARR exhibited at the newly formatted NHF Finance Conference & Exhibition at Warwick.
The usual three day conference was condensed to two day this year, reducing the time out of the office for the delegates and improving the attendance at the exhibition for those of us 'manning' the stands!
We were thrilled at the response we received; particularly the positive reaction to the launch of our FARRgo the Duck charity competition and hope that we will start to receive some 'interesting' photographs soon.
